The New Republic: John P. Judis: ‘GOP Death Watch: ‘The Final Days of The Republican Party’

GOP Death Watch_ The Final Days of the Republican Party _ The New Republic

Source:The New Republic– Tea Party voters?

“I once wrote about lobbying, and this week I called some Republicans I used to talk to (and some that they recommended I talk to) about the effect the shutdown is having on the Republican Party in Washington. The response I got was fear of Republican decline and loathing of the Tea Party: One lobbyist and former Hill staffer lamented the “fall of the national party,” another the rise of “suburban revolutionaries,” and another of “people alienated from business, from everything.” There is a growing fear among Washington Republicans that the party, which has lost two national elections in a row, is headed for history’s dustbin. And I believe that they are right to worry.”

“RT (formerly Russia Today) is a Russian state-controlled[1] international television network funded by the federal tax budget of the Russian government.[15][16] It operates pay television channels directed to audiences outside of Russia, as well as providing Internet content in English, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and Russian.

RT is a brand of TV-Novosti, an “autonomous non-profit organization” founded by the Russian state-owned news agency RIA Novosti in April 2005.[10][17] During the economic crisis in December 2008, the Russian government, headed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, included ANO “TV-Novosti” on its list of core organizations of strategic importance to Russia.[18][19][20] RT operates as a multilingual service with channels in five languages: the original English-language channel was launched in 2005, the Arabic-language channel in 2007, Spanish in 2009, German in 2014 and French in 2017. RT America (since 2010),[21] RT UK (since 2014) and other regional channels also produce local content. RT is the parent company of the Ruptly video agency,[5][6][7] which owns the Redfish video channel and the Maffick digital media company.”

“It’s now appearing to America that the Republican Party runs on fear. Every Conservative pundit out there – from Bill O’Reilly to Rush Limbaugh – uses fear to rile up the base. They make outrageous exaggerations – and somehow manage to blame liberals for the failures of 32 years of Reaganomics. Pundits on Fox So-Called News are constantly telling viewers to be afraid of the “evil government”- and then working as hard as they can to put the Republican cult members in charge of that very same government. Republicans on Capitol Hill hold hearings on the “infiltration” of the American government by the Muslim Brotherhood – and hallucinate about rampant socialism in the halls of Congress…

From Russia Today

People especially such as myself and other non Republicans need to be careful about saying things like the last days of the GOP. Because that phrase has been used since 1932 when Republican President Herbert Hoover lost in a landslide to Franklin Roosevelt. And Democrats won solid majorities in Congress and the Democrats were in power completely except for one Republican Congress in 1947-48, until 1953 after Dwight Eisenhower was Elected president in 1952.

And then the final days of the GOP was thrown around again in 1960 after Democratic Jack Kennedy was elected president with huge Democratic majorities in Congress. And in 1962 and off-year election where Democrats added to their majorities in Congress and won some landslides in governors races and of course with the LBJ landslide in 1964 with overwhelming 2/3 Democratic majorities in the House and Senate.

You want to go up to 1976 with Jimmy Carter with again large. Democrats majorities in the House and Senate. But that was only a two-year cycle because Republicans came back in 1978 in the House, Senate, and at the governors level.

Go up to 1980 with the Reagan Revolution that brought Ron Reagan to the White House, with a Republican Senate the first one since 1952. Bill Clinton in 1992 with again large majorities in Congress House and Senate a large majority of the governorships. But what happens in 1994: Republicans win back Congress completely (House and Senate) and win a majority of the governorships for the first time in like sixty years.

And we all know about Barack Obama in 2008 with his large Democratic majorities in Congress and the rise of the Tea Party that produced a Republican House of Representatives and a Republican majority of governorships as well.

So the Republican Party has been kissed off and put to death by non-Republicans since 1933 basically and guess what: they are still here and in power.

If you’re a non-Republican who wants to give the changing demographics argument about America, like the fact we’ll no longer have a racial majority in America by 2050, let alone an ethnic or religious majority by them and the fact the Republican Party is so dependent on European-Americans to vote for them (especially Northern-European and Anglo-Saxon voters) and they don’t seem to have any real ability or even want to appeal to racial majorities (with few exceptions) you can do that. But that doesn’t mean a damn thing if minorities not only vote, turn out and vote, especially in elections when Democrats are already in power, but vote Democratic and vote Democratic going away.

Foreign Affairs: Francis Fukuyama: ‘The Future of History: Can Liberal Democracy Survive the Decline of the Middle Class’

The Future of History

Source:Foreign Affairs– welcome to Washington.

“Something strange is going on in the world today. The global financial crisis that began in 2008 and the ongoing crisis of the euro are both products of the model of lightly regulated financial capitalism that emerged over the past three decades. Yet despite widespread anger at Wall Street bailouts, there has been no great upsurge of left-wing American populism in response. It is conceivable that the Occupy Wall Street movement will gain traction, but the most dynamic recent populist movement to date has been the right-wing Tea Party, whose main target is the regulatory state that seeks to protect ordinary people from financial speculators. Something similar is true in Europe as well, where the left is anemic and right-wing populist parties are on the move.”

From Foreign Affairs

“We live in a liberal democracy! That’s what we created in this country. That’s our Declaration of Independence and our Constitution! We should be very clear on this… this country was founded on the principles of the Enlightenment. It was the idea that people could talk, reason, have dialogue, discuss the issues. It wasn’t founded on the idea that someone would get stuck by divine inspiration and know everything, right from wrong. People who founded this country had religion, they had strong beliefs, but they believed in reason, in dialogue, and civil discourse. We can’t lose that in this country. We’ve got to get it back.”

Liberal Democracy

Source:FRS FreeState– tobacco advertising is an example of free speech in America.

I saw a blog post last night on The Dish with Andrew Sullivan which is also on WordPress (if you are interested in The Dish) and Sullivan’s piece was called: “Why hasn’t there been a Liberal version of the Tea Party” I’m paraphrasing, but that is pretty close to the title of it. Referring to groups like Occupy Wall Street (As if these are liberal groups)

When I see writers even intelligent columnists and bloggers like Andrew Sullivan refer to left-wing, especially Far-Left groups like Occupy Wall Street, MoveOn, the Green Party, the so-called Progressive Caucus, as liberal groups, to me that’s just another example of how ignorant the so-called mainstream media (which Andrew Sullivan is a member of) is when it comes to Liberals and liberalism. They view Liberals and liberalism as leftist, when the fact is they’re really talking about Socialists (or Social Democrats, if you prefer) but the s-words scares the hell out of them.

Liberalism is based off of liberal democracy, which today is called classical liberalism, but the real liberalism is based off of liberal democracy, which includes all sorts of individual rights and freedoms that all Americans and is the basis for our form of government.

Free speech, free press, freedom of religion or freedom from religion, freedom of choice, limited but responsible government, federalism, property rights, equal rights, equal justice, judging people by the content  of their character, not by the color of their skin (to paraphrase the great Reverend Martin L. King) these are the real liberal values in America.

The reason why leftists (Socialists-Social Democrats and Communists) get called Liberals, is because the mainstream media identifies them as Liberals and we still have a lot of trapped in the closet Socialists in America, because of how terrified Americans are of the words socialist and socialism, because they automatically think of Soviet Russia and the totalitarianism that came from that Communist State. And leftists in America generally don’t want to be associated with Communists.

So perhaps Andrew Sullivan’s blog post should’ve been titled something to the effect: “How come there hasn’t been a left version of the Tea Party” because liberal and left are not the same things and never have been.

Associated Press: President Obama: ‘No Ransom For Congress’

Associated Press: President Obama: No 'ransom' for CongressSource:Associated Press– President Barack H. Obama (Democrat, Illinois) 454th President of the United States, at The White House.

“President Barack Obama says he’s willing to not only negotiate fiscal issues with Republicans, but changes to health care law. But he says first he wants them to pass a bill to stop a partial government shutdown.”

From the Associated Press

The House could hold a vote on the Senate passed government funding bill that has House Republican numbers in it, not Democratic budget numbers. And if the bill passes, the government shutdown is over. And both Democrats and Republicans in Congress and all federal employees including President Obama can move on with their lives. But if the vote fails in the House because it doesn’t have the votes that Speaker Boehner claims, then we start over. Bt what do House Republicans have to lose in this?

Jack Scalia: Torch Song (1993) Starring Raquel Welch & Jack Scalia

“Paula Eastman (Raquel Welch) with an alcohol problem goes into rehab where she meets a fireman, Mike Lanahan (Jack Scalia) with similar problems. Visit Jack Scalia’s official facebook page at:Facebook.”

From Jack Scalia

I’ll be the first to admit, Torch Song is not a great movie. It was probably one of the last made for network TV movies, which were all but gone by the late 1990s. But Raquel Welch and Jack Scalia are great in this movie and I believe Alicia Silverstone is as well.

Raquel Welch

Raquel plays an alcoholic actress whose career is now suffering as a result. The last straw with her alcoholism and what gets her to admit it, is that her daughter not only catches her drunk one night, but catches her drunk on video tape and shows her. That is what gets Raquel’s character in alcoholic rehab where she meets a man there another alcoholic played by Jack Scalia. And they start a relationship. Even drunk Raquel is still a hot and baby-face adorable.

The NBA History: NBA 1979-Christmas Day-Philadelphia 76ers @ New York Knicks: Highlights

Knicks-76ers

Source:The NBA History– The 76ers and Knicks from 1978.

Source:The Daily Press

“Dr. J, Henry Bibby, ”Jellybean” Bryant and Doug Collins took the floor against Earl ”The Pearl” and the Knicks.”

From The NBA History

Philadelphia-New York, is a great rivalry in any sport. Eagles-Giants in the NFL, which is probably the best one. Flyers-Rangers, in the NHL, Phillies-Mets in MLB and yes the 76ers-Knicks in the NBA. Which today is not nearly the rivalry it was twenty-five or thirty years ago. But it was a big deal in the 1960s, 70s and 80s.

But now both franchises, especially in the 76ers case, haven’t been very good for a long time. The 76ers, have only been to the Conference Finals twice since winning their last NBA Finals in 1983. And the Knicks have struggled just to make the Eastern Conference Playoffs for the last ten years or so.

As far as this game, the 76ers were still one of the best teams in the NBA at this point. They lost in the Eastern Conference Finals in 1978 and got to the Eastern Conference Semifinals in 1979.

Dr. J Julius Erving, certainly the best forward in basketball at this point and arguably the best all around player in the NBA as well at this point. Trying to lead the 76ers under head coach Billy Cunningham back to the NBA Finals. This was a bit of a homecoming for The Doctor who played for the Nets on Long Island. And the fact that he now played for the 76ers in this game was on Christmas Day, 1978 and they Sixers won big, made this game much more special.

What is also interesting about this game, is that Bob McAdoo, one of the top power forwards in the NBA in the 1970s was playing for the Knicks in this game. That were a pretty bad team in the late 70s. After leaving Buffalo in like 1976, he ends up playing for like three teams in four years. Here’s one of the best players in the NBA at this point getting shipped around from bad team to bad team in the late 70s. Before finally finding a home where he could finish his career with in Los Angeles with the Lakers in 1982.

There was a lot of talent on both teams in this game, especially for the 76ers, but they were clearly the better team.

ABC News: This Week- ‘Powerhouse Roundtable Discusses Government Shutdown’

Speaker of The House of Representatives. Or Speaker of The House Republicans?

Source:ABC News– Speaker of The House of Representatives, or Speaker of The House Republicans?

“Cokie Roberts, Jonathan Karl, Paul Gigot, Soledad O’Brien, and Steven Rattner on “This Week.”

Source:ABC News

The White House is waiting for the House Republican Leadership to fall. And that happens with vulnerable House Republicans for 2014 who are in tough districts going to Speaker Boehner and. Telling him that you gotta end this and make a deal with President Obama and Senate Democrats. Because I’m in a tough race and I’m not going to lose my seat over this. So either you make a deal with Democrats or I’ll go along and support House Democrats efforts to bring up the. Senate passed clean spending bill that doesn’t have ObamaCare language on it.

Leathered Life: Ricarda- in Tight Leather Jeans in Boots

Jeans in Boots

Source:Leathered Life– Ricarda, from Leathered Life

“Mature biker woman in tight leather pants.” Originally from Leathered Life, but the video has since been deleted or blocked on YouTube.

There are a lot of YouTube videos of sexy women in tight leather and denim jeans. And the person shooting the video tends to call the women, mature to describe them. Even though these women are probably in their late thirties, or perhaps even mid-thirties and perhaps some cases early forties. Obviously not older women and at best in all cases early middle age women.

Which tells me the people and I guessing guys in most cases are really young, like in their early or mid-twenties and look like kids to someone who is about my age or even younger. I think this is just one characteristic of people from the Y Generation. People who are not like them and a bit older, but perhaps not a lot older, seem older than them, because they the 20th Century or something or parts of it.

The woman in this video is a beautiful sexy woman, who looks great in this biker outfit. A leather biker outfit with the leather jeans in boots. And I’m sure she is mature compared with someone who just turned old enough to drink legally in America. But she’s not only by any standard, except for someone who was perhaps just born yesterday.

Associated Press: President Obama on The Budget Battle

AP Interview_ Obama on the Budget Battle

Source:Associated Press– President Barack Obama, talking to the AP about the government shutdown.

“In an exclusive sit-down interview with the Associated Press, President Barack Obama said there are enough members of the House to vote to reopen the government and to avoid the first ever default, insisting the only obstacle is Speaker Boehner. (Oct. 5)”

Source:Associated Press

Apparently there isn’t any weekly presidential address this week because of the government shutdown. And the people who put this together have been furloughed because of the government shutdown but President Obama. Still needing to get his message out doing this interview instead. But he’s right that if Speaker John Boehner brings the Senate clean government funding bill using the House budget numbers to the House floor. It would pass with something like thirty Republican Representatives voting for it and the government shutdown would be over.

Leathered Life: Sexy Biker Chick- In Leather Jeans

Leathered Life

Source:Leathered Life– Ricarda from Leathered Life.

Source:The Daily Press

“Mature woman in tight leather pants.” Originally from Leathered Life, but the video has since been deleted or blocked on YouTube.

Love biker women for multiple reasons. And two of them having to do with the facts that they tend to be in great shape, because they have to be because of the lifestyle they live being on the road so much and having to manage their motorcycles. But the other having to do with the wardrobe. You see a lot of leather, denim and boots, with their wardrobe. Tight leather, tight denim, tight boots. Skin-tight leather and denim jeans with boots. With a leather jacket, or sometimes just a tank-top or t-shirt. And the great leather biker boots.

And then the combinations with biker women wearing biker leather jackets, with Levis denim jeans or other denim jeans, and the biker boots. Or going all leather with a biker leather jacket, skin-tight leather jeans and biker boots. Jim Morrison, is not the only person to wear leather suits and boots a lot.

You have to have a great body to look even good and not embarrass yourself in skinny leathers. Which are skin-tight leather jeans. If you’re worried about how you look in skinny denims, because of how they showcase your legs for good and bad and make you look ever heavier or skinnier than you actually are, skinny leathers, might be twice as risky.

Obese women, look even fatter in skinny leathers and rail-thin women look even skinnier. Because they’re cut so thinly to showcase great legs on women and the butt as well. And if you’re weak in those areas, you’ll look even weaker in skinny leathers. Every time I see rail-thin women in skinny denims, she looks about a hundred pounds to me and perhaps has just lost even more weight. A fat woman in those pants will look like she’s grown another ass. (To be frank)

My point about this is a big reason why biker women and let’s say mature biker chicks and not the porn stars who like to model motorcycles, is that they tend to have great bodies and know exactly what they’re doing. How to look sexy while not looking like they have to look sexy in order to pay their bills, because they also have style and class and know bikes very well.

Biker women tend to be professionals, but in other fields. Law enforcement, teaching, military background, even law, but they’re also very attractive and very sexy. And love showing the world that and their bikes on their free time. And these are just a few reasons why I’m so attractive to them. Because they’re so healthy and sexy, but with class and style as well and a pleasure to check out.

Folkert Leffring: NBA 1988-Chicago Bulls @ Detroit Pistons: Fourth Quarter

NBA 1988 Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons

Source:CBS Sports– The start of a great NBA rivalry.

Source:The Daily Press

“NBA 1988 Chicago Bulls vs Detroit Pistons”

From CBS Sports

The Chicago Bulls weren’t that bad in 1988, they were actually good winning fifty games, but were still developing as a team and still not good enough to beat a team like the Detroit Pistons, Boston Celtics or Los Angeles Lakers.

The Bulls had Horace Grant developing at power forward with Charles Oakley still having that position, who was very solid and very good for them. But the Bulls by the late 1980s were moving to become a quicker, more athletic, trapping type of team on defense. That moved the ball a lot on offense to the open scorer.

The Bulls traded Oakley in the offseason. And made Grant their starting power forward for the next season. Scottie Pippen wasn’t even starting for the Bulls during the 1988 season.

So the Bulls were still about Michael Jordan on offense, with Orlando Woolridge as their second option. Who at times was very good, but not a great player.

And the Pistons were one of the teams that they had to get by in the Central Division to accomplish what they wanted, which was to win the NBA Finals. And this was the start of the Bulls-Pistons rivalry, which is still alive today, but not as strong.

The Pistons in 1988 were an NBA Finals contender, but better than they were in 1987. Because they had already gotten to the Eastern Conference Finals and lost it and knew they were very close to what they wanted which was an NBA Championship.

And if Isiah Thomas doesn’t sprain his ankle of game 6 of the 1988 NBA Finals, who knows maybe they win the championship that year. The Celtics were getting older and no longer had a good bench and the Pistons already knew they were good enough to beat the Celtics.
