ABC News: Good Morning America- ‘President Obama to Address Americans on Syrian Strike’

img_0492

Source:ABC News– President Barack H. Obama (Democrat, Illinois) 44th President of the United States.

“The president will make his case to the American public in televised speech.”

As I blogged yesterday the only real alternative to using military force in Syria is Syria simply giving up their chemical weapons and weapons of mass destruction more broadly. So what the Assad Regime and Russia are talking about now that the Assad Regime giving up these weapons voluntarily. If its real, is the alternative to America simply taking them out through the air. And punishing the Assad Regime physically so they can’t use these weapons against their own people again. But of course what President Bashar Al-Assad might be doing here and I believe is likely doing here is simply just stalling as he looks for another way to keep his weapons to protect his dictatorship from a civil war and being kicked out of power. And because of this even if this deal is real what President Obama has to do tonight is still make the case for why military force in Syria is still an option. And why Congress should give him a resolution to use military force in Syria. If the Assad Regime fails to give up their weapons of mass destruction.

What I believe President Obama needs to do tonight is make the case for why America can’t stand by and let dictators murder their own people, especially through weapons of mass destruction. And make the case that Bashar Al-Assad is a tyrant only looking to hold onto power at all costs. Not interested in the best interest of his own country and people. And why it is in America’s interest to see that dictators like this not go unchecked. That serious consequences have to come to those who murder their own people. That America as the leader of the free world and a champion of human rights as well as the free international community simply can’t stand by and watch dictators like Bashar murder their own people. And continue to allow our moderate allies in the region to be overwhelmed by Syrian refugees. Because Syrians are looking to escape from their own President a dictator because they don’t want to be murdered by the Assad Regime as well.

I believe the case is pretty simple now the question in a country that’s been at war for now twelve years in October. It is still going to be hard to convince Americans that we need to be involved in another Middle Eastern country. But the fact is preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear power is in our national interest because they fund terrorists who strike at Americans and our allies. And if we can’t even stop a third-world dictator from murdering his own people either peacefully, or by force because we don’t have the strength to do it, stopping a country that is energy independent with the resources to be a first-world country from getting nuclear weapons becomes almost impossible. Because of how weak we would look losing to a third-world dictator like Bashar Al-Assad.

Scott McGee: ‘TCM Star of The Month For September: Kim Novak’

Kim Novak
Source:Scott McGee– Turner Classic Movies honoring Hollywood Goddess Kim Novak as their Star of The Month, for September, 2013. Well-deserved.

Source:The Daily Press

“:60 promo for Turner Classic Movies Star of the Month Kim Novak, September 2013. Written/produced by Scott McGee. Edited by Jay Bellissimo. Voiced by Sylvia Villagran.”

From Scott McGee

A gorgeous, sexy, baby, who always leaves you wanting to see more of her movies and appearances. I haven’t seen many women who are that gorgeous, sexy, as well, as baby-face adorable, who makes her characters seem so real, because she makes her characters part of her. Which is how Kim Novak acted and why she’s been so successful.

The phrase always leaves you wanting more can almost sound negative if not insulting, because it implies someone, or something is not good enough. But in Kim Novak’s case, that means she’s so hot and great that you want to see as much of her as possible. Like in:“Please, don’t go away.”

I believe Kim Novak is almost an under appreciated Hollywood Goddess and actress, because she gave up her career pretty quickly. She was finished acting by the late 1960s when she was in her mid-30s when she probably would have at least one if not two more great decades ahead of her where should could have had a great movie career. Or perhaps done TV as well and had a whole list of great roles in front of her. Because she was versatile and could play anyone. That goes to the always leaves you wanting more. Because she was so good and looked so great that you never wanted to see her go away.

Kim Novak or Baby Kim (as I call her) is truly one of the best actress’s I have ever seen and one of the best looking. This hot, baby-faced, woman, with the great body who was also a hell of an actress who again made her characters seem and brought them to real-life. Who also had this adorable silly side that could make you laugh. And yet her career as an actress was only about 10-15 years and that might even include her brief return in 1985 to work on prime-time soap operas. Who could have had a long great career and be remembered as one of the best actress’s of her generation, if not all-time.

The White House: ‘Former Secretary of State Clinton’s Statement on Syria’

The White House: Former Secretary of State Clinton's Statement on SyriaSource:The White House– former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (2009-13)

“Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton speaks about the ongoing situation in Syria.”

From The White House

Former Secretary of State Clinton essentially backing up what President Obama is saying here. The President, as well as Secretary of State John Kerry have been very clear here. It’s illegal for any government to use chemical weapons against their own people, even in a civil war. And that he international community must respond and act against this, not just because it’s illegal and evil to literally gas your own people, but other dictators can’t believe they could do this in the future to their own people, especially just to stay in power.

ABC News: This Week- Striking Syria: This Week’s Roundtable

This Week

Source:ABC News– This Week roundtable, talking about a possible American air strike in Syria.

“Rep. Adam Kinzinger Donna Brazile, Katrina vanden Heuvel, Greta Van Susteren and Dan Senor.”

From ABC News

President Barack Obama, in the political battle of his life trying to make the case two years late in my point of view. We should’ve been debating and talking about military intervention in Syria in 2011. Which would’ve saved million of lives. But as the saying goes, it is what it is. And President Obama is in the political situation that he is today and will have to make a very good case to avoid losing embarrassing votes this week in Congress.

The case for going into Syria, is like that in the Balkans in the 1990s, Bosnia and then later Kosovo. Saving innocent lives from being murdered by their own government. And giving the Syrian rebels a fighting chance, literally, to take on the Assad Regime and hopefully defeat them. And bring a more responsible government to Syria that can hopefully be represented of the country. And govern Syria responsibility.

But we do nothing, innocent Syrians will continue to be murdered by their own government. Why the West says that’s awful and you shouldn’t do that. But without the, stones to do anything to stop them.

I agree with the President. But the question is can he get the country behind him. Which we’ll find out next week.

Terrie Hawkes: Tight Leather Jeans In Boots

Source:The Daily Press– Leather jeans in boots on the left.

“Terrie Hawkes walking in tight leather pants and boots.” Originally from Terrie Hawkes, but the video has since been deleted or blocked on YouTube.

Didn’t get to see the face of Terrie Hawkes, whoever she is and if I’m ignorant about that, I apologize, but we didn’t get to see her face until the end of this video. But the quick look of her, she looks like a gorgeous blonde and of course with a great body. Tall and well-built, with the perfect outfit to highlight those features.

The skin-tight leather jeans in boots and with a great walk to show people who she looks and sexy she is. And I just love women who know they are sexy and proud that others see that as well. I just would’ve made this video at least two-minutes longer with the same woman and the same outfit and gotten to see more of her face and you would’ve gotten a very good look at her face and body in the same shots in that great outfit.

The tight leather jeans in boots that she pulls off perfectly and about as well as it can be done. I just wish she did it longer and this would’ve been a great sexy, but tasteful video of a gorgeous sexy women in a very stylish outfit and not looking like a porn star.

Associated Press: ‘President Obama Says He’ll Address Nation On Syria’

Associated Press: President Obama Says He'll Address Nation On SyriaSource:Associated Press– President Barack H. Obama (Democrat, Illinois)

“Speaking at a news conference in Russia, President Barack Obama said he understands the public’s skepticism about military action in Syria. But he says he’s confident he can turn that around and he said he’ll address the nation on Tuesday.”

Source:Associated Press

Smart move by President Obama, because even though it looks like Congress will back him on Syria, he doesn’t have the support of the country yet which would be nice to have. Since the United Nations and NATO probably won’t support this either.

Neoconservatives in Congress, especially Senator’s John McCain and Lindsay Graham, have criticized President Obama, for not acting sooner and doing enough on Syria. Now that President Obama is ready to act and perhaps do it in a limited way and we’re not talking about invading and occupying a country the size of Syria, even with all the success we had when we did that in a bigger country like Iraq, the so-called defense hawks in Congress, especially House and Senate Republicans, should back the President.

And if they believe he should go further, then make the case. Instead of trying to obstruct him simply because he’s Barack Obama and the Far-Right hates him.

Bob Dylan & Joan Baez: 1963 March on Washington

Source: The Daily Press

The people at the March on Washington certainly weren’t dreaming and were at the start of something huge. That led to the civil rights laws of the 1960s and they definitely had their eyes on the prize and knew exactly why they were there. Hollywood and the entertainment, especially the progressive entertainment community, were critical in the civil rights movement and the March on Washington. Because they could bring attention to their activism, because of their followers and that they also had the media behind them. Print, radio and TV. The media almost had to cover these events and cover what the speakers and activists were saying and doing here.

The only thing that these marchers and activists were fighting for was for individual freedom and equal rights for all Americans. Including African-Americans. That it was immoral for any American to be denied access in this great country simply because of our race, ethnicity, or gender. That all Americans were entitled to not just civil rights, but equal rights and an opportunity to succeed in this country. And then be allowed to fail and succeed on our own based on our own merit. Not because of how our nose is shaped, or our hair, name, complexion, or any other racial, or ethnic features that we have as individuals.

People like to point back to some event or time or year, when America started changing and became the diverse melting pot that we are now with all sorts of different ethnic and racial groups now prevalent with a real shot at succeeding in America. But where we became a cultural melting pot where Americans were expected to all live the same way and want the same things. Where women were no longer expected to stay at home and where gays were no longer expected to lock themselves in the closet and where African-Americans were no longer expected to serve as servants to Caucasian families and serve them in public.

1963 for me at least is the end of the 1950s. America was moving forward and no longer moving back. We were moving past the Leave it to Beaver culturally and religiously conservative world. Not just African-Americans who were standing up for their rights, but women of all races and ethnicities as well. Baby Boomers were going to and graduating from college and wanted to a New America and new way of life for themselves. Where they could seek freedom for themselves and live their own ways. And no longer felt the need to live the lifestyles of their parents and grandparents. But decide for themselves, especially women if they were going to get married, go to work, have kids or not. And in many cases decided to enter the workforce. As well as get married and have kids.

When Bob Dylan sings Time are a Changin, he’s singing that at the perfect time and perfect place. Times were changing in 1963 and I believe the March on Washington was kind of like that Super Bowl moment that kicked that off. The 1964 Civil Rights Law, is passed less than a year later. And the civil rights movement just grew from that after that with the 1965 Voting Rights Act. This 1950s American shell that we were living in up till this point was finally cracking. And we were becoming a country that was no longer just for Southern Anglo-Saxon Protestant men. But a country that was truly a melting pot where every American was going to be treated equally under law.

The Eyes on a Prize, at least for me, was an America that worked for all Americans. Were we no longer resembled Apartheid South Africa. Where the Native-Africans and their Caucasian rulers were separated. But instead would become a country where race, ethnicity and gender, wouldn’t become factors in whether Americans would succeed or not. But instead were how we were born and physically looked, but didn’t determine our success in life. But instead our success would be determined by what we brought to the table as individuals. And not as members of groups. The 1963 March on Washington wasn’t the start of the American civil rights movement, or the conclusion. But the place where everything started coming together.

VOA News: ‘Key U.S. Lawmakers Signal Support for Strikes on Syria’

VOA News: Key US Lawmakers Signal Support for Strikes on SyriaSource:VOA News– U.S. Senator Bob Corker (Republican, Tennessee) Ranking Member of the Foreign Relations Committee (113th Congress)

“The Obama administration is intensifying pressure on U.S. lawmakers to authorize the use of force in Syria, after last month’s chemical attack that killed hundreds of civilians. VOA Senate correspondent Michael Bowman reports that the administration’s most exhaustive lobbying effort to date on foreign affairs appears to be yielding results.”

From VOA News

“Voice of America (VOA or VoA) is the state-owned news network and international radio broadcaster of the United States of America. It is the largest and oldest of the U.S.-funded international broadcasters.[4][5][6] VOA produces digital, TV, and radio content in 49 languages, which it distributes to affiliate stations around the world.[7] Its targeted and primary audience is non-American. As of November 2022, its reporting reached 326 million adults per week across all platforms.[8]

VOA was established in 1942, and the VOA charter was signed into law in 1976 by U.S. President Gerald Ford.[9][10] It is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and overseen by the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM), an independent agency of the U.S. government.[11] Funds are appropriated annually under the budget for embassies and consulates. As of 2022, VOA had a weekly worldwide audience of approximately 326 million (up from 237 million in 2016) and employed 961 staff with an annual budget of $267.5 million.[2][12][13]

In March 2022, VOA broadcasts were blocked in Russia. Nevertheless, to get around Russian government blocks, many Russians have used VPNs and other software, in addition to TV, FM and medium wave radio, digital, and direct-to-home satellite.

Voice of America is seen by some listeners as having a positive impact while others like lecturer Faizullah Jan of Pakistan’s University of Peshawar see it as both that and in addition as American propaganda; it also serves US diplomacy.”

From Wikipedia

Looks like President Obama will get his resolution on Syria from Congress both from the Senate which just approved a resolution today in the Foreign Relations Committee and in the House either later this week or next week, when Congress officially comes back into session. But both resolutions will come with prohibiting the Obama Administration from putting troops on the ground in Syria and only limited air-strikes will be allowed.

Associated Press: ‘Senate Dems, GOP Largely Support Syria Action’

Associated Press: Senate Dems, GOP Largely Support Syria ActionSource:Associated Press– U.S. Senator Bob Corker (Republican, Tennessee) Ranking Member of the Foreign Relations Committee (113th Congress)

“Members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee say they support a US military strike in Syria, though Republicans say they have concerns about how it would be implemented, and the lack of support for Syrian opposition forces.”

From the Associated Press

Good to see the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee earning their big Congressional salaries today by coming back to Capitol Hill while Congress is still in recess and holding this hearing on Syria that is so important.

This is about everything and everyone who is involved here, like putting people in harms both Americans and people in Syria.

I wish the U.S. House would come back before Congress comes back next week and does the same thing. So Congress and the American people are as informed by this as much as they possibly can.
