- If Dick Stocton's NBA On CBS intro can't get you up for a 76ers-Celtics game, at the Boston Garden, then nothing will. They were simply the best.If you love offensive basketball, then you love this Celtics-Blazers matchup, because both teams were loaded with firepower and liked to run. The Celtics obviously had their big three led by Larry Bird, but they also had Cedric Maxwell, Dennis Johnson, Danny Ainge, and Scott Wedman. The Blazers had Calvin Natt, Kenny Carr, Clyde Drexler, Mychal Thompson, and Jim Paxson.I wouldn't say that the Celtics-Lakers rivalry is the best rivalry in the history of pro sports, because it certainly isn't today. But back in the 1980s, it was the best rivalry in all of pro team sports, because they were the two best franchises in the NBA, they were always playing for the championship, their regular season games felt like NBA Finals games, and they truly disliked, but respected each other.The Redskins essentially knocking the Eagles out of the NFC Playoffs in 1982. The Redskins were just very good defensively in 1982, as their offense was up and down. This is also one of the better games in the great Eagles-Redskins-NFC East rivalry.The Detroit Pistons probably had the better all around team in 1984. They had more players that could hurt offensively, including Isiah Thomas. But the New York Knicks had Bernard King and the Pistons had no one who even bother him, let alone defend him. This is one of the best NBA playoff shootouts, at Joe Louis Arena.Actress, comedian, singer, English Muffin Diana Dors. I don't think you could ever assign just one title to her. She was too talented and complicated for that.
